The latest poll numbers aren’t shaking Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.
The poll showed that the majority of Minnesota residents did NOT want the Gov to run for President. But just today politico.com is reporting that the Governor has put together a group of GOP political heavyweights to move his campaign forward, including some key members of G.W.’s re-election campaign. He has also reportedly contacted some of Fmr. Gov. Mitt Romney’s supporters.
It has been a long held belief in Minnesota that Pawlenty would eventually run for President. He positioned himself well for a VP spot in the last election, and was publically POed when Palin got the spot. Now he’s moving forward, collecting operatives, and looking like the front runner to take on Romney in the primaries.
He has what it takes, he’s a young, ambitious, fiscally responsible candidate who can energize the party with brains not winks (sorry sarah), and he isn’t going anywhere, so keep an eye on him.
